OUR PROCESS

Our standards start at soil.

When you purchase from Sunday Farms, you’re not just buying meat— you’re improving our food system. You’re supporting local farmers with integrity, the ethical treatment of animals, and sustainable agriculture.

HOW WE FARM

Farming the way
nature intended.

All of our farm partners know their land intimately. They have enormous respect for their animals and the pastures that nurture them.

That’s why they’re carefully improving the land on which their animals graze through regenerative practices.

Higher standards means healthier meat for your that's better for our planet. All of our farms are selected based on a careful set of criteria.

LET'S DIG INTO OUR STANDARDS

1.

Cage-free, free-range
Always pasture-raised

Catch phrases like “free-range” or “cage-free” don’t cut it for us. All our animals are raised outdoors where they roam freely, forage for their natural diets and avoid unnecessary stress from confinement. That means more nutrient-dense meat with better flavour and texture than anything you’ll find at the store!

2.

Ethical and regenerative practices

Our farms always consider the natural needs of each animal and the pastures that nurture them. With practices like rotational grazing and low/no-tillage, our farmers are ensuring fresh, nutrient-rich pastures for the animals while also improving the health of their soils.

3.

Chemical-free, organic practices

Our farms never spray their pastures with pesticides or herbicides. Our animals are never treated with hormones or antibiotics, and any supplemental feed is always non-GMO.

4.

Local

All of our partner farms are proudly based in Southern Ontario and our fish is wild-caught in Canadian waters. This means you’re getting top-quality food directly from the source and supporting our local economy. For more information on the great people behind these farms, keep scrolling!

Five Chicks & a Farmer

RUN BY:

The Moylan Family

LOCATION:

Huron County, ON

SPECIALTY:

Chicken

A family farm run by John and Sarah Moylan (along with their 4 daughters—hence the “five chicks”!) out of Huron County, ON. John grew up on a small family farm in Southwestern Ontario where his family raised pigs and cattle and grew crops. After working for 15 years in construction and engineering, John returned to farming and started pasture raising turkeys and chickens in 2016 for his family and friends. The results were so good that the Moylan’s decided to take the next step—in 2017, they started farming full time. John raises his chickens out on pasture using moveable, floorless huts called “chicken tractors” to rotate the flock to fresh pasture. Every morning, he moves the huts by hand to a fresh patch of pasture where the chickens feast on a fresh salad bar of grass, alfalfa and all the bugs they can eat!
